8 Days, 1 Story - Day 8: He is still rolling stones!

Have you ever had bad news in the middle of a good life? I'm sure when you stop and think, it may become all too real (insert your story here). The reality is, this is LIFE. It always has been and always will be on this earth.

But it is Easter Sunday…HE HAS RISEN, defeat has been turned to victory, darkness has turned to light, and death has turned to life! So we come to this place to celebrate, right? The stone has been rolled away, Jesus is alive!! It is definitely time to celebrate. We celebrate not just because of something that happened over 2000 years ago. We celebrate because what Jesus did 2000 years ago is still happening today. HE IS STILL ROLLING STONES!

Do you remember that the stone that was rolled away from Jesus' tomb wasn't the first stone to be rolled away? In John 11 Jesus tells Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” This conversation happened just prior to Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.

Jesus rolled that stone away after the tomb had been sealed for four days. He called out to Lazarus in a loud voice, COME OUT!  Why was it a loud voice? I like to think that it is because when we are dead we don't hear well. When we are lost in our sin we may need someone to yell at us or knock us upside the head.

You see; just as Jesus rolled the stone away, stepped from his own grave, and brought life from death in his own situation (which is cause for celebration in and of itself), HE is a specialist at still doing the same for us today. He is still rolling stones (and I'm not talking about a music group). He did it over 2000 years ago for Lazarus, he did it upon his own death, and HE WILL DO IT FOR US! He will roll the stones of death, the stones of captivity, the stones of discouragement and sin away as we place our lives in his hands. When I am weak and can't do it, HE is strong. Are there stones that you need rolled away today? What better day than Easter Sunday to say yes to Jesus. What better day than today to let Jesus roll the stones away, and take you from death to life? As Lauren Daigle sings in her song... let's respond to the voice of our Savior Jesus and RISE UP!
