I’m a second service person. Something about the sleeping in, the extra cup of coffee, whatever. But last Sunday I got to Saginaw Campus at 9:30a to see Hopevale’s 456Student ministry in person. Who knew that while I was hanging at home, there was such life change going on just down the street? I mean I know there’s a huge, wow, ‘big church’ service happening and off -the-charts Hopevale Kids in progress, but this? Rob Quinn and his team are faithfully showing up for our 4th, 5th and 6th graders and those kids are showing up for all.of.it. The Venue was packed with kids who were awake and excited to be there. The volunteers were all in. There were games and fun and relationships and connection and encouragement and live worship (Sydni Quinn you are all the things!) and teaching and small group interaction. All focused on pre-teens. Rob says that the goal is to get kids to own their own faith, not their parents’ or their pastors’.
Hopevale, we have spiritual ‘rock stars’ in our midst and Rob is one of them. He’s been on official staff at Hopevale since June but in pre-teen ministry for over 9 years. He’s involved in national conversations about this age group and how to best show them Jesus and he’s here serving our kids in Saginaw and Bay City.
Time to stop snoozing, friends. Get up, get out and take a look at what God is doing right in front of us. Jump in and serve, pray your hearts out, bring your kids, their friends, that lonely kid next door.
