Sometimes I keep God in a box. I don't do it on purpose, and it's a silly notion really, that I could limit the infinite God of the universe. But I do it anyways. Sort of an attempt to control his access to my heart. Make my life simpler, on my terms...
And then days like this past Sunday come along and remind me of how big God really is. As Pastor Dan reminded us, "God so loved... not just me, not just America, but the entire world and everyone in it."
"After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb." Revelation 7:9
"This is where the future is headed."
Need a simple, small step to respond to a God who won't be boxed in? How about Operation Christmas Child? I love the questions my kids have asked in years past as we have participated:
"Where does the kid live who will get this box?"
"Will this really be all that they get for Christmas?"
"What should I write on the note I'm including?
It's a perfect, small first step toward a bigger understanding of who God is. You can find all the details, including packing instructions and dropoff times, on our website. Pack a box, take God out of your box.
