You're gonna miss the bus!
The school bus comes at 6:45am. That's early.
And as you can imagine, it is not always easy to get our middle schooler and high schooler out the door in time to catch the bus. Most mornings the process includes "encouraging," along with some level of parental frustration. And sometimes I will even find myself yelling and threatening. You're gonna miss the bus!
This morning was one of those days. At 6:40am the kids were still upstairs; they hadn't eaten breakfast yet; clearly they were not going to make the bus. But I didn't have to be anywhere until 8am, and Mike Garner's message from this past Sunday was still rattling around in my subconscious somewhere. "Who are you going to love sacrificially this week?"
So I bypassed my normal responses to their tardiness, and simply offered to drive them to school. Sacrificial? Not really. Maybe just a little. #smallvictories
The kids noticed, and actually thanked me when I dropped them off. Hey Mike, this stuff works...
