It Is Well: Week four of a seven week series about finding peace in an anxious world.

Responding to Anxiety

In the midst of anxiety, we normally react in one of two directions:

1. PARALYSIS (do nothing)
2. PANIC (do everything)

Unfortunately both of these options only further our anxiousness. Thankfully there is a third option:

3. PRAYER (do something)
Through prayer, God has provided a way for us to experience His deep and abiding peace.

The practice of prayer leads us to the promise of peace.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Pursuing Four Needed Prayer Invitations

1. Any PLACE is the right place to pray
2. Any SITUATION is the right situation to pray about.
3. Any WORDS are the right words to pray.
4. Any FAITH is the right amount of faith to pray.

Status of Mind study

Where in my thought life do I need to:

Start, Do More, or Give it a Try

... to experience more peace and less anxiety?

Knowing that I'm not a helpless victim when it comes to the things I think and feel, what's the one choice I can make this week (and beyond) to improve my thought life?

Stop, Do Less, or Take a Break

1. Go on a social media fast.
2. If you're older, cut back on the cable news.
3. Stop feeding impure thoughts.
4. Avoid gossips, hotheads, and negative people.

Start, Do More, or Give it a Try

1. Memorize Scripture. Start with Philippians 4:6-7.
2. Read & review Bible promises about peace.
3. Listen & sing to worship music.
4. Spend face-to-face time with encouraging people.
