It Is Well With My Home

It Is Well: Week six of a seven week series about finding peace in an anxious world.

Caring Well: Getting Practical

When it comes to anxiety, there's:

1. Universal and circumstantial anxiety that’s common to all of us.
2. Unique and complicated anxiety that’s specific to some of us.

The Path of Peace in the Home

PERSONAL - "me & my God"
MARRIAGE - "me & my spouse"
FAMILY - "me & my kids"

Bringing peace to an anxious home starts with us personally then works its way out to marriage and then to family. One builds upon the other.

John 14:26-27 NIV

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Truth & Trust in Marriage

1. Truth builds trust.
2. Trust takes time.
3. Trust is fragile.
4. Trust is earned not just given.

Our marriages need to have an environment where telling the truth is valued not punished, where an ugly truth is better than a pretty lie. No violent reactions, no silent treatments, no passive-aggressive responses.

James 1:19 NIV

19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

Finding Peace in Family Life

The home should be a:

1. Safe place.
2. Steady place.
3. Soft place.
4. Silly place.

Luke 10:41-42 NIV

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
