Heaven Forever

December 16, 2018 Speaker: Adam Harbaugh Series: Heaven on Earth

Topic: Sunday Message Verse: Luke 24:50–24:51, Acts 1:10–1:11, John 14:2–14:6, Revelation 21:1–21:4, Hebrews 12:1–12:2

A four week Advent series leading up to Christmas about the birth of Jesus. Heaven broke through this sin-cursed world of our when Jesus was born. He made a way to heaven for us and our hope will one day become our reality.

Luke 24:50-51 NIV

50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.

Acts 1:10-11 NIV

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

John 14:2-6 NIV

2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Revelation 21:1-4 NIV

1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Live in Jesus = you put Him on the throne of your life and you put yourself
on the path He created between heaven and earth. You acknowledge Him
as your Savior because of what He did on the cross for you. You are
forgiven and free.

Live as Jesus = you allow the fruit of His Spirit to be on display in your life.
You are a living expression of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Your life points others
to Jesus.

Live for Jesus = How is Jesus calling you to live for Him in your work, relationships, parenting?
